Savory aromas and flavours, dense, minerally, spicy, great interplay of cool flavours from the slate and warm flavours of the ripeness, with a huge life ahead—pure slate. Location: Steinriegl: Very steep (up to 78% inclination) top single vineyard located on high altitude and facing south-southwest. Highly flavour-intense wines with pronounced minerality. This vineyard was referred as one of the best single vineyards of Styria for centuries Soil: red and blue-black slate with quarzite Awards: 94/100 pts. Falstaff Weinguide 2020/21 Winemaking: Very late selective hand picked grapes, short maceration time, gentle and very slow pressing. Slow natural fermentation in used big wooden casks, ageing on the yeast for 11 months.
